Job Description

Stafforce is recruiting for a Catering Services Assistant to support our client within Children's Services. This role plays an important part in providing healthy, appealing meals in a safe and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors.


Responsibilities

As a Catering Services Assistant;

  • Assist with basic food preparation and routine cooking.
  • Store and rotate food items; dispose of out-of-date stock appropriately.
  • Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
  • Prepare and clear dining areas, including setting up and moving furniture.
  • Report any serious behaviour concerns to senior staff or early years practitioners.
  • Support colleagues during incidents to maintain a safe, calm environment.
  • Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures.

Requirements

As a Catering Services Assistant;

  • Understanding of Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety, and Safeguarding (training can be provided).
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out routine food preparation and basic cooking tasks.
  • Ability to use appropriate cleaning materials and kitchen equipment.
  • Physically able to bend, lift, and handle kitchen/dining equipment.

About the Role as a catering assistant

  • Indoor working environment within school or childcare settings.
  • Regular interaction with children, staff, and visitors.
  • Use of commercial catering equipment and cleaning products.
  • No supervisory responsibility.
