Job Title: CNC Miller - Programmer

Location: Darlington

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday (day shift with potential overtime)


Company Overview:

We are a precision engineering company based in Darlington, specialising in the manufacture of high-quality components for various sectors including automotive, aerospace, energy, and general engineering. Due to ongoing growth, we are seeking an experienced CNC Miller with strong programming skills, particularly in offline programming and multi-axis machining.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Programming, setting, and operating CNC Milling Machines (primarily 3-axis and 4-axis).
  • Offline programming using CAM software (e.g., EdgeCAM, Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar).
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and CAD models.
  • Producing precision components to tight tolerances in a variety of materials.
  • Optimising machining processes to improve efficiency and reduce cycle times.
  • Conducting first-off and in-process inspections using conventional measuring equipment.
  • Maintaining machines and working to a high standard of housekeeping.
  • Collaborating with engineering and production teams to support continuous improvement.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience in CNC Milling with programming, setting, and operating.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles and tooling.
  • Experience with offline programming (CAM software essential).
  • Proficient in 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining.
  • Experience with 5-axis machining is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work from engineering drawings with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Apprenticeship or formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Heidenhain, or Siemens controls.
  • Flexible and adaptable to production demands.
  • Positive attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
