We are currently recruiting a machinist, ideally time served but not essential, to machine centrifugally spun castings for the Aerospace and Power Generation industries, in a range of stainless alloys.

Duties;

    • Ensure the reduction or elimination of any rework for surface finish.
    • Data collection i.e., recording of measurements before and after boring.
    • Visual inspection on bore finish.
    • On/off loading of tubes from racks and storage using overhead crane.
    • Understanding of quality issues and ability to make necessary adjustments to ensure tubes pass.
    • Familiarity with modern management techniques such as TPM and 5s.
    • Working safely throughout all activities in line with safety standards and procedures.

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience machining in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ideally we are looking for individual who have experience using a long bed lathes preferably with CNC controls.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and translate these into producing dimensionally correct components.
  • Able to work to tolerance and accurately use measuring equipment.
  • Must be attentive to detail
  • An ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Able to operate on your own initiative, but also able to contribute in a team environment.
  • Flexible attitude towards work and overtime, including shift working.
  • A good understanding of health & safety, environmental issues and quality rules.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
