Offline 5-Axis CNC Machinist / Programme

Full-time / Permanent - Day Shift only

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Offline 5-Axis CNC Machinist / Programmer to join on of our clients within their precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, optimising, and proving out complex CNC programs offline, supporting high-precision manufacturing across a range of components and materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise 5-axis CNC programs using offline CAM software
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds
  • Simulate and verify toolpaths to ensure collision-free machining
  • Work closely with shop floor machinists to support setup and prove-out
  • Continuously improve cycle times and machining efficiency
  • Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and documentation
  • Troubleshoot machining and programming issues as they arise

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in 5-axis CNC machining and offline programming
  • Strong knowledge of CAM software such as:
    • PowerMill / HyperMill / Mastercam (or similar)
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings
  • Experience with CNC controls (e.g., Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens)
  • Understanding of tooling, fixturing, and machining strategies
  • Knowledge of working with materials such as:
    • Aerospace alloys, stainless steel, aluminium, tool steels
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or Engineering
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
  • Experience with complex 3D surface machining
