Are you an experienced Crane Operator looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious individual to join our team in Scunthorpe, supporting operations within a busy industrial environment. This is an excellent opportunity to work with heavy plant and machinery while playing a key role in the safe movement and handling of steel products.

The Role

As a Crane Operator, you will be responsible for the safe lifting, movement, and positioning of steel products using overhead and gantry cranes. Working closely with slingers, signallers, and operational teams, you will ensure materials are handled efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate overhead and gantry cranes to lift, move, and position steel products safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections of cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Follow lifting plans, load limits, and all operational procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with slingers, signallers, and other site personnel.
  • Accurately position loads to prevent damage and minimise risk.
  • Monitor loads throughout lifting operations to maintain stability and control.
  • Report any equipment defects, faults, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
  • Meet operational targets while adhering to strict safety standards.
  • Comply with all site health, safety, and environmental regulations.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience operating overhead or gantry cranes.
  • Relevant crane operating certification or training (RTITB, NPORS, CPCS, or equivalent employer-approved training).
  • A strong understanding of safe lifting operations, crane controls, and load capacities.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • A high level of concentration and attention to detail when handling suspended loads.
  • The ability to follow instructions, procedures, and lifting plans accurately.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach to health and safety, including the confidence to stop work if conditions become unsafe.
  • Experience working within industrial, steel, manufacturing, warehouse, or port environments.
