We are currently recruiting for a Customer Engineer to join a leading engineering and manufacturing business in Lincoln. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional looking to take ownership of technical processes, drive continuous improvement, and work closely with customers on innovative projects.

The Role

As a Customer Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical ownership of coating processes, ensuring process controls and documentation are maintained to the highest standards. You will work collaboratively with operational and quality teams to investigate non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and drive process improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing coating process controls, documentation, and technical standards.
  • Investigating and resolving non-conformances using quality improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across operations and quality functions.
  • Providing technical expertise in costing, estimating, tooling design, project control, and process parameter development.
  • Participating in customer meetings and technical reviews, providing updates on project progress and future development plans.
  • Maintaining expertise in operational process equipment and supporting technical troubleshooting.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including job instructions, job routers, job safety analyses, and standard operating procedures.
  • Producing product validation and substantiation reports based on laboratory testing and component analysis.
  • Supporting all Health, Safety and Environmental policies and contributing towards a zero-harm culture.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A higher education qualification in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • Previous plant engineering, manufacturing engineering, or project engineering experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management and organisational abilities.
  • A proactive approach with a strong drive for results and continuous improvement.
  • A commitment to quality, safety, and attention to detail.

Desirable experience:

  • Metallographic laboratory experience.
  • Experience within coatings, materials engineering, aerospace, or related industries.
