Temporary Hydraulic Engineer - Immediate Start


We are currently recruiting for an experienced Temporary Hydraulic Engineer to join a busy engineering team in Burton-on-Trent. This is a full-time temporary role with an immediate start, initially for a minimum of 1-2 months.

Role Details

  • Location: Burton-on-Trent
  • Contract: Temporary, minimum 1-2 months
  • Start date: Immediate start available
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
  • Breaks: 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day
  • Pay: £15-£20 per hour, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Dismantle hydraulic cylinders and inspect components to identify wear, damage and replacement requirements.
  • Carry out repair and reconditioning work, including honing barrels, re-machining rods, replacing seal kits and completing welding or surface treatment tasks where required.
  • Reassemble hydraulic units to manufacturer tolerances and ensure all work is completed to a high standard.
  • Complete pressure and functional testing before final sign-off.
  • Work safely and efficiently, following all site procedures, risk assessments and health and safety requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • A strong mechanical background with practical, hands-on engineering experience.
  • Previous experience working with hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic systems or similar mechanical assemblies.
  • A relevant engineering apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to specifications and tolerances.
  • A safety-conscious approach, with confidence following safe isolation procedures and workshop health and safety standards.
