We're currently recruiting on behalf of our client in central Lincoln, for a Forge Operator.
Initially this will be working on a 2-shift basis however once fully trained it will move to permanent night shift working (anticipate this will be from January 2025)
Hours -
Week 1: Monday-Friday 6am-2pm. Week 2 Monday-Thursday 2pm-11pm and Fridays 2pm-6pm
This position is responsible for assisting with the safe forging of products in line with all specifications to ensure you meet quality standards.
Specifically this will include:-
- Adherence to all safety and quality processes and procedures.
- Ensuring that high standards of health, safety and housekeeping are consistently met
- To input new programmes and modify existing programmes on computer controls.
- To organise die and tool storage and heating of dies in readiness for production.
- To undertake fettling, painting of billets and shotblasting duties
- To carry out repairs to dies and tools during production.
- To ensure customer specifications are achieved e.g. check dimensions against process sheets or sketches.
- To undertake forge inspection.
- To brand and record part and serial numbers or other required numbers.
- To carry out the cleaning of the pits and painting work areas as required.
- To assist with the successful introduction of new/modified parts.
- Ideally candidates should be experienced FLT drivers with previous working knowledge of pendant crane operation, confined spaces and abrasive wheels. It is essential that candidates have prior experience of working in a heavy industrial or engineering environment.
Candidates should also have a flexible working attitude towards their duties and hours they are prepared to work. They should also be adaptable, reliable and have excellent communication skills. In addition they should be able to work well as part of a team, possess a strong attention to detail, and have both a quality and safety focused attitude.
