We are currently recruiting for A Forklift Driver with a fantastic local client of ours on the outskirts of Carlisle. Due to the location your own transport is essential for this position. You will be responsible for safely operating forklifts and other material‑handling equipment to move, load, and organise materials. The role supports the smooth running of daily operations, ensuring materials are processed efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts (counterbalance) to move materials around the yard. Training on a Telehandler will be provided after a period of time
  • Load and unload vehicles
  • Transport materials
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Inspect and maintain forklifts, reporting defects, performing basic checks (oil, tyres, battery).
  • Follow all health & safety procedures, including PPE use, traffic management rules, and safe lifting practices.
  • Keep work areas clean and organised, ensuring safe access routes and clear storage zones.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience operating forklifts in a industrial environment.
  • Good understanding of health & safety, especially around heavy machinery and waste materials.
  • Ability to work in outdoor and indoor environments, sometimes in varying weather.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Comfortable with manual handling and physically active work

Typical Working Conditions

  • Monday to Friday 9.30am until 6pm
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and outdoor conditions.
  • Use of PPE
  • Pay Rate between £14.25 and £14.74 per hour depending on experience
