Key Responsibilities:

  • Forklift Operation: Operate a B1 or B2-class counterbalance forklift truck to load/unload goods from vehicles and move them to designated storage or dispatch areas.
  • Heavy Load Handling: Safely move large and heavy pallets, containers, or industrial goods .
  • Storage & Retrieval: Stack and retrieve goods in warehouse racking, ensuring efficient use of space and correct stock rotation.
  • Vehicle Loading: Load and secure goods for transport according to safety regulations and load specifications.
  • Inspection & Maintenance: Perform daily equipment checks and report any faults or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all site safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and adherence to risk assessments.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse staff, transport teams, and supervisors to ensure timely order fulfilment and smooth workflow.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Valid forklift licence B1, B2, B3 (RTITB, ITSSAR, or equivalent).
  • Experience operating counterbalance FLTs.
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices in a warehouse or industrial setting.
  • Physically fit and able to lift/move materials manually if needed.
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with the team.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a busy port, warehouse, distribution centre, or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or handheld scanners.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills for record-keeping and documentation.

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor/outdoor work depending on the facility.
  • Shift-based work for 12 hour shifts.
  • Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods.
