Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Freight Forwarding Assistant to join a well established logistics company. Reporting into the forwarding department, you will assist in the smooth day-to-day running of forwarding operations The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring high levels of customer service while supporting import, export, and logistics operations


Job Role

  • Manage and support freight forwarding activities from quotation through to invoicing.
  • Coordinate import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
  • Complete and process customs entries for both import and export movements.
  • Liaise with shipping lines, hauliers, customers, and overseas partners.
  • Obtain and negotiate competitive rates with shipping lines and transport providers.
  • Monitor shipments and proactively resolve any operational issues.
  • Ensure customers receive excellent service and regular updates.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Support the development of efficient operational processes and service standards.


Key Skills

  • Previous experience within freight forwarding, logistics, shipping, or customs operations.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and international import/export customs procedures.
  • Experience completing customs entries.
  • Understanding of road freight operations across the EU.
  • Knowledge of shipping lines serving Iberian, Italian, Benelux, and Chinese markets.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience using Destin8 software.
  • Knowledge of sea freight and international shipping operations.
