Hours: Rotating Shifts

  • 6:00am - 2:00pm
  • 2:00pm - 10:00pm
  • Early finish on Fridays (6-hour shift)

Overview

We are recruiting for a Grinding Operative to join a well-established manufacturing business in Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong manufacturing background who takes pride in producing high-quality work and working to precise engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating grinding machinery to finish metal components to specification
  • Grinding and shaping steel and other alloys to achieve the required dimensions and finish
  • Using hand-held grinders, abrasive tools, and production equipment safely and effectively
  • Removing imperfections, burrs, and excess material from manufactured parts
  • Inspecting components to ensure they meet quality and engineering standards
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions where required
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area
  • Working closely with colleagues to achieve production targets and deadlines

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a grinding, fettling, deburring, or manufacturing role
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment (essential)
  • Experience working with steel and metal components (highly desirable)
  • Ability to use grinding tools and machinery confidently and safely
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Ability to read engineering drawings is advantageous
  • Able to work rotating shifts
  • Reliable, hardworking, and a strong team player
