About the Opportunity

We are looking for a skilled Port Heavy Plant Operator to join our busy port operations team. This role is essential to ensuring safe, efficient cargo handling, container movement, and day-to-day terminal operations within a fast-paced marine logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a range of heavy plant machinery including reach stackers, loading shovels, tugs, tippers, RoRos, forklifts, and excavators.
  • Perform safe loading, unloading, stacking, and transporting of cargo within the port.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report faults in line with port safety procedures.
  • Support terminal supervisors to maintain efficient yard management and operational flow.
  • Follow all HSE, port safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across all operational areas.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of port logistics and operational performance.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience as a Heavy Plant Operator, Port Plant Operator, Reach Stacker Driver, or similar role.
  • Valid or expired plant operator licences/certifications. Refreshers and novice courses can be available for the right candidate.
  • Strong understanding of port safety, marine logistics, and heavy machinery operation.
  • Ability to work shifts, days, nights and weekends.
  • Reliable team player with strong communication skills.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in outdoor industrial environments.

Desirable Experience

  • Background in container handling, bulk cargo operations, or marine terminal work.
  • Licences for multiple types of heavy plant equipment.
  • Experience using port management systems, yard planning tools, or logistics software.
