About the Role


Stafforce is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing client for an experienced Machinist to join their production team in Billingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineering professional seeking a long-term position with the potential to secure a permanent contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating machining equipment to manufacture high-quality components used across a range of heavy engineering industries. Working to engineering drawings and strict tolerances, you will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate machining equipment safely and efficiently to produce components to specification.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions.
  • Carry out precision machining to required tolerances and quality standards.
  • Use measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, and gauges to inspect finished products.
  • Operate overhead cranes to move materials and completed components safely.
  • Carry out weld dressing and finishing work where required.
  • Complete quality checks and record inspection results.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping duties.
  • Ensure production targets and deadlines are achieved.
  • Adhere to all company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience operating machining equipment within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy engineering environment.
  • Competent in the use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Overhead crane experience is desirable (certification preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to working shifts and overtime when required.
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices within an industrial environment.
