Maintenance Supervisor

About the Role


We are looking for an experienced individual from a heavy industrial environment with a strong background in automation and process controls. As a key member of the Maintenance Department, you will report directly to the Engineering Manager and take responsibility for planning, organising, and supervising a team of Multiskilled Maintenance Engineers.
This is a hands‑on leadership role focused on continuous improvement, supporting Engineering and Operations, and driving high standards across maintenance activities. You will also play a key part in capital projects, system upgrades, and re‑engineering work, while providing expert support to Electrical, Mechanical, and Multiskilled Technicians.

Principal Accountabilities


  • Supervise and carry out maintenance activities to ensure long‑term plant availability, asset protection, and compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and financial targets.

  • Plan and execute all electrical maintenance activities efficiently, working closely with the Engineering Manager to maximise productivity across all sites.

  • Lead and supervise Technicians and contractors, ensuring high standards in planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, corrective actions, repairs, and testing.

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns across all sites, including occasional out‑of‑hours support as part of flexible working requirements.

  • Manage, maintain, and repair PLC, SCADA, HMI, and drive systems, including spares, program backups, and training.

  • Attend daily meetings with Maintenance and Production teams to review workloads, plan corrective actions, and support KPI reporting.

  • Assist the Engineering Manager with departmental budgeting and financial planning.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

  • Set and enforce expectations around safety, compliance, corrective actions, and professional work behaviours.

  • Maintain and improve the highest standards of Health & Safety within the working environment.

Skills & Experience Required


  • Minimum HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (Degree preferred).

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in heavy industry, including supervisory responsibility.

  • Strong proficiency in PLC / SCADA / HMI / Drives, including:

    • Siemens S7

    • RS Logix

    • Allen Bradley

    • Compact Logix 5000 & 500

    • Mitsubishi processors

  • Experience installing and commissioning electrical control systems, including AC/DC drives, VFDs, and closed‑loop positioning systems.

  • Experience with monitoring equipment, vibration analysis, and temperature detection systems.

  • Competent with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and CMM systems (e.g., Synchro).

  • Ability to coordinate and supervise Electrical, Multiskilled, and contractor personnel.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, process diagrams, and control schematics.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
