Maintenance Supervisor - Heavy Industry
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing company for a Maintenance Supervisor with expertise in automation and process controls within a heavy industry environment.
In this key role within the Maintenance Department, you will report to the Engineering Manager, leading and organizing a team of Multiskilled Maintenance Engineers. This is a hands-on position focused on continuous improvement, working closely with Engineering and Operations teams.
You will take the lead in design and specification for new capital projects, process improvements, and system re-engineering, while also providing expert support for Electrical, Mechanical, and Multiskilled technicians in servicing and diagnosing faults in existing systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and execute maintenance activities to ensure long-term plant reliability, while meeting Health, Safety, Environmental, and financial targets.
- Plan and manage electrical maintenance activities, working alongside the Engineering Manager to enhance productivity across multiple sites.
- Lead and oversee technicians and contractors, ensuring high performance in planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance, as well as fault diagnosis, corrective actions, and equipment testing.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns, including outside normal working hours when necessary, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to operational needs.
- Maintain and manage PLC, SCADA, HMI, and Drive systems across company sites, including critical spare inventory, program backups, and staff training.
- Coordinate daily meetings with maintenance and production teams to review workloads, plan corrective actions, and report KPIs for managerial review.
- Support department budgeting and financial planning alongside the Engineering Manager.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and reliability across all sites.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, work procedures, and corrective actions, maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum HNC, ideally a Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in heavy industry, with supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, HMI, and Drive systems, including Siemens S7, RS Logix, Allen Bradley, Compact Logix 5000 & 500, and Mitsubishi Processors.
- Experience in electrical control system installation, including AC/DC drives, variable frequency drives, and closed-loop control systems.
- Familiarity with vibration and temperature monitoring equipment.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and CMM Systems (Synchro).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, process, and control diagrams.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate and supervise teams effectively.
