Manual & CNC Lathe Turners - Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Power & Petrochemical Industries

We are looking for skilled Manual Centre Lathe & CNC Lathe Turners to join our team. Ideally, candidates will be time-served, but this is not essential. You will be responsible for machining centrifugally cast spun tube, rolled bar, forgings, and offset carriers to supply industries including Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Power, and Petrochemical.

Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking individuals with experience operating long-bed lathes, machining standard bored/profiled tubes and offsets using either:

  • CNC lathes with Fanuc Series OI-TD controls
  • Manual lathes
  • Turning component lengths up to 10 metres in stainless, super, and carbon alloys

Your duties will include:

Programming Fanuc Series OI-TD controlled lathes (preferred but not essential)

Recording measurements before and after machining

Conducting visual inspections of machined components

Operating overhead cranes safely and efficiently

Understanding and addressing quality issues

✔ Familiarity with modern management techniques such as TPM and 5S

Ensuring safe working practices in accordance with Paralloy's safety standards

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 2-3 years of turning experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to create precise component profiles
  • Experience with Fanuc Series OI-TD programming (advantageous but not essential)
  • Proficiency in measuring tools: Micrometers, Calipers, Bore Comparators, Wall & Surf Gauges
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team
  • Flexible approach to work, including overtime and shift work (2-week rotating days/nights)
  • Understanding of health & safety, environmental regulations, and quality standards
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
