We are currently recruiting for an experienced Overhead Crane Operator to join a busy and well-established steel manufacturing facility in Thornaby.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident crane operator who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and has experience handling steel products safely and efficiently.

The Role

Working within the Tubular Department, you will play a key role in supporting production operations by moving steel tubes and components throughout the manufacturing process. You will work closely with welders and production teams to ensure materials are delivered safely and on time to keep production flowing efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating a remote-control overhead crane safely and efficiently.
• Slinging and moving steel tubes and components around the production area.
• Supplying materials to welders and production operatives.
• Loading, unloading and positioning materials in line with production requirements.
• Following all site health and safety procedures.
• Conducting pre-use equipment checks and reporting any defects.
• Working as part of a team to maintain productivity and quality standards.

Requirements

✅ Valid Overhead Crane Licence (essential)
✅ Previous experience operating a remote-control overhead crane
✅ Experience within a steel manufacturing, fabrication or production environment
✅ Competent in slinging and lifting operations
✅ Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
✅ Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced production environment
✅ Reliable with a strong work ethic and attention to detail

Desirable

• Previous experience working within a welding or fabrication workshop.
• Experience handling steel tubes, beams or heavy materials.
