Job Purpose
The Proposals Engineer plays a key role in developing and reviewing technical and commercial proposals in response to tenders, ensuring they align with profitability targets and deadlines.
Main Responsibilities
- Understand the company's product portfolio to provide technically accurate solutions that meet client requirements and specifications.
- Review technical proposal requirements, analyse project specifications, and develop appropriate technical solutions within tight deadlines.
- Collaborate with senior project engineers, directors, and various departments (e.g., project management, finance, legal) to gather necessary inputs.
- Support proposal and contract negotiations alongside the Director.
- Lead technical proposal discussions, ensuring risks and responsibilities are clearly defined.
- Obtain cost estimates for materials, consumables, and subcontracted work to develop proposals.
- Maintain financial diligence by executing budget control to meet profitability targets.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures when compiling documentation.
- Address client technical clarifications and attend clarification meetings when necessary.
- Provide after-sales support to maintain strong customer relationships.
- Adhere to Subsea Energy Solutions' Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Policies and company guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by directors or management.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Degree/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, supported by relevant work experience. Alternative qualifications may be considered.
- Experience in proposals or sales, ideally within the oil, gas, or renewable energy sectors.
- Understanding of SURF (Subsea Umbilical's, Risers, and Flowlines) is advantageous.
- Strong sales, negotiation, and commercial awareness with a track record in proposal preparation and presentations.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Engineering drawing/drafting experience (SolidWorks) is beneficial but not essential.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining and fabrication, is an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated with strong decision-making abilities and a flexible approach to work.
- Highly proficient in computer applications.
- UK Full Driving Licence required.
- Must be able to work from the company headquarters in Catterick.
