Loading Shovel Driver

£12.50ph - £15.50ph

We have a great opportunity for Loading Shovel drivers working across the Humber Ports with excellent training opportunities for further progression.

What is the Job Role?

  • A career within Ports offers a diverse working environment with no two days the same.
  • Operating a Loading Shovel across the Humber ports
  • Loading and Unloading cargo
  • Operating compressors
  • Using both bucket & blade
  • Driving a shovel quayside
  • The port is a 24/7 operation working 12 hour shifts

Is there career progression?

The ideal port operative will aspire to be multi-skilled stevedore supporting operations across a wide range of cargo.

Opportunity to train on plant and machinery including Terberg Tugs, Tippers, Forklifts and Cranes.

Quayside training including Slinger banksman.

Access to accredited courses to increase your knowledge and awareness of H&S.

What do you need to be successful as a Loading Shovel Driver within Ports?

  • To be a successful operator within ports a flexible approach to work and highly H&S conscious are essential.
  • Experience operating a Loading Shovel
  • Experience operating a loading shovel within a shed environment is highly advantageous
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Previous experience within Ports is desirable however other sectors such as Construction, Demolition or Agriculture will be considered
  • Full UK Driving licence is essential
  • A valid Shovel licence is desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience operating a shovel with a blade/pusher is essential
  • Previous experience operating heavy industrial plant and machinery is highly desirable
