Job Purpose

To support the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods in line with company and customer procedures. Warehouse Operatives ensure all materials are handled safely, accurately, and in a timely manner to meet operational targets.


Scope of Role

  • Work collaboratively with Shift Supervisors to plan and execute daily warehouse tasks.
  • Manage stock movements efficiently to maintain workflow and meet customer expectations.

Key Stakeholders

  • External: Customers, suppliers, transport providers
  • Internal: Warehouse team, operations, inventory control, quality assurance, H&S, and other internal departments

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload vehicles in accordance with company procedures
  • Receive goods and materials into storage; check for accuracy and damage
  • Pick, pack, and prepare loads for dispatch according to customer requirements
  • Operate plant and machinery (e.g., forklift, VNA) in a safe and efficient manner
  • Accurately complete all relevant paperwork and update priority sheets as needed
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and hygiene across the warehouse
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and health & safety instructions
  • Wear and use uniform and PPE correctly at all times
  • Use tools and equipment safely and store them appropriately after use
  • Comply with all security and search procedures within the site
  • Conduct regular stock checks and cycle counts when required
  • Support cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment, buildings, and facilities
  • Take personal responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment for self and others

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems and handheld scanners
  • Experience with goods-in and goods-out processes
  • High level of accuracy and efficiency in completing tasks
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic IT proficiency (e.g., email, stock systems)
  • Reliable and punctual with a proactive approach to work
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and support operational needs, including flexible working hours
  • Commitment to health and safety compliance

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications
  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence and/or VNA Licence

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all tasks are carried out in line with company standards for quality, compliance, and health & safety
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
