Job Purpose
To support the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods in line with company and customer procedures. Warehouse Operatives ensure all materials are handled safely, accurately, and in a timely manner to meet operational targets.
Scope of Role
- Work collaboratively with Shift Supervisors to plan and execute daily warehouse tasks.
- Manage stock movements efficiently to maintain workflow and meet customer expectations.
Key Stakeholders
- External: Customers, suppliers, transport providers
- Internal: Warehouse team, operations, inventory control, quality assurance, H&S, and other internal departments
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload vehicles in accordance with company procedures
- Receive goods and materials into storage; check for accuracy and damage
- Pick, pack, and prepare loads for dispatch according to customer requirements
- Operate plant and machinery (e.g., forklift, VNA) in a safe and efficient manner
- Accurately complete all relevant paperwork and update priority sheets as needed
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and hygiene across the warehouse
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and health & safety instructions
- Wear and use uniform and PPE correctly at all times
- Use tools and equipment safely and store them appropriately after use
- Comply with all security and search procedures within the site
- Conduct regular stock checks and cycle counts when required
- Support cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment, buildings, and facilities
- Take personal responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment for self and others
Essential Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems and handheld scanners
- Experience with goods-in and goods-out processes
- High level of accuracy and efficiency in completing tasks
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic IT proficiency (e.g., email, stock systems)
- Reliable and punctual with a proactive approach to work
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and support operational needs, including flexible working hours
- Commitment to health and safety compliance
Essential Qualifications
- GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence and/or VNA Licence
